Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BoatQuote (operated by Marine Tech Management LLC, a Florida limited liability company) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use the BoatQuote website at getboatquote.com and the BoatQuote iOS application (collectively, the “Service”).

1. What we collect

Account information: name, email address, role (crew or supplier), department, phone number (if provided), and company details for suppliers.
Yacht information: yacht name, marina, berth, length, type, and other vessel details provided by crew users during onboarding and quote requests.
Quote and job content: job descriptions, dates, photos and document attachments you upload, message history with the other side of the marketplace, supplier responses, line items, and approval decisions.
Quote requests: the content of each request you submit including the description, system, location on the yacht, urgency, requested dates, and the suppliers selected to receive it.
Messages:messages exchanged with the other side (crew ↔ supplier) inside the Service, including any quoted replies or links to attachments.
Uploaded files and attachments: photos, PDFs, and other documents you upload to a quote request, quote response, job record, or business profile.
Subscription and billing information: the plan you selected, your billing cycle, trial start and end dates, payment status, last-four digits and brand of your card (returned to us by Stripe), invoice history, and any cancellation events. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details — those are collected and processed directly by Stripe.
Legal consent records: when you accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at signup, we record the user ID, email, timestamp, document version, IP address, and user-agent string for enforceability and audit purposes.
Technical and analytics data: IP address, browser or device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and log data collected automatically when you use the Service.

2. What we don’t collect

Precise location:the iOS app does not request access to your device’s GPS. Yacht location is only what you type into the quote form (e.g. marina name).
Contacts, calendar, or health data.
Photo library access in the background: we only access photos at the moment you tap to attach one to a quote or message, after you grant iOS permission.
Advertising identifiers:we don’t use any third-party advertising SDKs and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use it

To operate the Service: authenticate you, route quote requests to suppliers you select, display supplier responses to crew users, manage jobs through to completion and payment.
To send transactional emails and (where you opt in) push notifications related to your account — new quote requests, responses, approvals, messages, payment receipts, reminders, password resets.
To improve the Service, diagnose issues via crash reports, and protect against fraud and abuse.

4. Who we share it with

We share information with other users as necessary to deliver the Service — for example, your quote request is shared with the suppliers you select. We also share with service providers acting on our behalf:

Supabase (United States) — database, authentication, and storage of uploaded files.
Vercel (United States) — hosting and content delivery.
Resend (United States) — transactional email delivery.
Stripe (United States) — payment processing for completed jobs. Stripe receives card and payment details directly from your device; we never see your full card number.
Sentry (United States) — aggregated crash and error reporting so we can diagnose bugs.
Apple — if you install the iOS app, Apple receives basic install / crash data per Apple’s own privacy policy.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of our users.

5. Your choices and rights

You can update or delete most account information from your profile page inside the app or the web dashboard.
You can request a full copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing privacy@getboatquote.com. We respond within 30 days.
You can disable push notifications at any time in your phone’s Settings > Notifications > BoatQuote.
Transactional emails (related to your account and active quotes) cannot be opted out of while the account is active — they are part of the Service.

6. International users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you have rights under those laws — including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing of your personal information. Contact us at the address above to exercise these rights.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted storage at rest, Postgres row-level security, JWT-based access control, and least-privilege service accounts. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep it safe.

8. Retention

We keep account, quote, and job data while your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure for legal, tax, audit, and backup purposes — typically up to seven years for transaction records, after which records are deleted or fully anonymized.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for users under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time and will post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes will also be announced via in-app notice or email.
